June 6, 2007: Email Phishing
AmericanWest Bank is committed to protecting your privacy and providing a secure online banking network. Please be aware that an UNAUTHORIZED "Phishing" email (CLICK HERE TO VIEW) is in circulation that attempts to obtain AmericanWest Bank customers' e-@cess user IDs and passwords. This is NOT an official Bank communication. The Bank will never ask you for this type of information/confirmation via email.
Phishing is a tactic used to obtain access to accounts illegally by sending out counterfeit messages that appear to be from your financial institution. The link in the message is to a counterfeit version of the e-@cess log-in page. This page will accept your in the User ID and Password fields and then switch to a page displaying the AWBC's current stock quote. Once the perpetrators of this phishing scam have obtained your user name and password, they can access your accounts.
We are diligently working with anti-phishing groups to get this counterfeit site shut down.
Please never provide your user ID or password to anyone. AmericanWest Bank will never ask you to provide us this information. If you have entered your User ID and Password on this page, please immediately contact eBanking Support at (509) 363 0283 or (800) 772 5479 Option 3 to re-set your User ID and Password.
This scam does not impact your use of e-@ccess online banking or online bill payment in any way. As long as you are accessing your account from AmericanWest Bank's web site at www.awbank.net, you are logging into our secure system.
