To our customers and communities,
AmericanWest Bank is financially strong and well positioned for the future. We have the ability to meet the current and future needs of our customers by providing sophisticated products and services as well as the agility and commitment to deliver each with the community banking spirit our customers have come to expect. The ongoing financial strength of the bank is demonstrated by our balance sheet and other key financial indicators. For example, AmericanWest Bank is among the most well capitalized banks in the country. This strength stands as a resource to our customers and the community—both as capital readily-available to deploy as loans, and as a source of economic stability within the communities we serve.
In July we closed on our acquisition of Security Business Bank of San Diego and announced a definitive agreement to acquire Inland Community Bank, of Ontario, Calif. In late September we announced plans to acquire PremierWest Bank, based in Medford, Oregon. With 32 locations in Southern Oregon and Northern California. At the holding company, we remain open to opportunities to deploy capital earmarked for bank growth. However, we will deploy these resources only when an acquisition fits our strategic, cultural and geographic criteria and has a long-lasting benefit to our customers and shareholders.
It is my pleasure to lead a hardworking, dedicated team, singularly focused on exceeding your expectations. Last year we continued our community involvement activities, as well as heightened our focus on serving businesses of all sizes while maintaining our outstanding service to the individuals who bank with us. Today, and as we move forward, we measure ourselves by how well we serve our customers, communities and one another. Only when we are highly regarded by all three constituencies will we achieve our goal to be exceptional.
